Hi,
I built my PC 9 mos ago. I've been using it conteniously for the first 7 mos, but after I move to a different place for work I barely use it 1 or twice a week. And couple days later I noticed that my bios are do get reset. My assumption is because of the battery. Is it possible the pc always off caused this? if yes does that mean it's better to leave the PC always on? or at least have the psu plugged in the wall and with the switch turned on?
Thanks,
The BIOS battery wouldn't be affected by the PC being left on or off. Its just an ordinary CR2032 battery. Get it replaced. They don't cost much.
Alright I'll try to get one of this next weekend. And get back here if it worked. Thanks man.

No probls @KatsuneShinsengumi :O)
A packet of 2 will only cost a couple of pounds/dollars. Should be able to get them from your local supermarket. :O)
That's a CMOS battery. It's needed to store date / time settings(which is important for clock timings) and important bios / system setup information, so it can be loaded into memory after post.

Hey guys just an update, it did worked. After replacing the cmos battery it was now able to save my previous config, even after unplugging the psu from the power outlet. Man it feels like my motherboard is brand new,.. haha,,.. Also according to the watch repair guy that I talked with. The model cr2032 all have same size so as long as you'll ask for this model it should work in your motherboard. Or just make sure that whatever model you can see in your cmos battery is what you'll get as a replacement. Thanks guys.
