Was actually referring to *Depressive Suicidal Black Metal"

Any metal that takes itself this seriously isn't depressing, it's funny.

I don't know if i'd call it pure depression, but it's melancholic to a suicidal degree

not metal but tells a true story.

:| I really do not see the appeal of depressing songs.

Most of the stuff that's posted here doesn't really get to me in a real sense. For me, Godflesh is one of those bands that can deeply get to my head, there is nothing pretentious in their music.

This album is a little old, so cranking up the volume is essential.

From the same album, maybe not as "depressive" but yet powerful.

On the same note, some stuff by Justin Broadrick (from broken up Godflesh) as Jesu have a special place in my heart.

Then there's the drone stuff, which can be both powerful and melancholic, depending a bit on your mood. I've yet to come across anything that can punch right through my heart as well as Boris does. Again, good volume levels are encouraged.
