not really google's style though...
yeah you're right, I don't think they would do that. But it's going to be hard to beat facebook.
I even have a facebook, despite hating it, because I still need a way to stay in communication with family, and it's already established.
One thing I think myspace did really well that facebook does terribly is customization and your own personal page with things you like.
If google tried to tackle web development / building, in an easy way that ties in with social networking, then I can totally see them taking over, because it would be a great way to present yourself in a personal way to the world, and not the way facebook wants you to present yourself.
Well it's not like he's a particularly bad web developer or programmer or anything.
I deleted my fb account years ago when I realized it was just a huge popularity contest and fb "friends" aren't real friends.
I keep in contact with fam just fine over email and text. It's great. Just a few emails a year with some pics and an update to relatives so they know I'm ok.
Lets be real. The real reason people use fb is to:
- Peer into people's lives that they don't real know. ..(profile stalking)
- Get attention. ..........................................................(complaining, baby photos, cat pics)
- Make your life look better than it really is. ...............(pics of food and selfies)
- Compare your life to others. ...................................(must keep up with EVERYONE I've ever met!)
It's such a relief when you finally just delete the account. You don't realize how much you worry seeing what other people are doing until you just STOP. Does it really matter that you see the baby pic of some random friend you had back in high school???
I have a lot more focus on people who are around me now. I've developed a solid handful of deep and strong friendships with people... not some wall of statuses and photos with too many filters.
@Streetguru
I don't think moot organizes those campaigns...and if he does, he must be a Sith lord.
Something, something, dahk side of the Foarce
It's not that they did it terribly, they don't give you an option to customize, period.
Wow that's super vain, but okay. I'm more or less completely disconnected from most of my friends. FB is a tool to keep in touch with them, because email is to me considered too slow for getting a response. You are making assumptions. I'm not going to go more into it.
Also Moot joining Google? Awesome, he'll be useful changing some things at the company.
what's super vain?
To each his own really. I'm just saying I've been a lot happier without it. It's also nice because since the time I quit, facebook has turned into a massive data collecting machine. It's nice to know that future employers get nothing when search for me when they want to find out about my social life.
So is this gonna mean that youtube comments will be 4chan threads?
Are you sure? Did you check the diagram?
I heard some employers are even more suspicious if you don't have a Facebook account.
Maybe I'll put it a different way. Moot getting a job at Google and being hired on as a consultant for what they want to do Social Media wise is perfect. He is qualified, he will get paid tons. I don't see how this is a problem. Maybe freak out less and just wait. Then freak out. What the hell is that vendiagram supposed to be about? I mean sure you can find people who fit into these camps, but this isn't the majority. So again making assumptions.
As for employers who are suspicious over not having a social media account. Great okay, I don't care. I can work for someone else.
Devil's advocate position. Looking at those social media accounts, does screen for idiot loud mouths posting about everything under the sun.
Look at the world with a grey view. Stop jumping the gun.
It's a joke. It's largely true, but I was only being half-serious.
