Hi, I’m thinking of buying your DisplayPort KVM and was wondering if you’ve heard of any issues with the Monoprice Displayport 2.0 cables and your KVM’s.
Monoprice 8K DisplayPort 2.0 Cable
IIRC they dont recommend them unless it is a very short run (especially on most cables).
For higher end DP cables, they only recommend FIBBR.
@Level1_Amber may help you some more.
cablematters store on amazon has been good about their cables but nothing beats fiber
A problem with any copper cabling whether it is DP 1.4, 2.0, etc. is that over time the copper signal will degrade. A DP 2.0 should be fine as long as the cable is short
Hi, thank you for the replies. Everything will be set up around my desk, so the cables will be 6’ or shorter. I’m looking at FIBBR. They might be a little more expensive than what I need.
remember its combined length of both ends as the kvm treats it as such
Thank you. I didn’t know that.
What resolution and refresh rate are you going for?
Hi, this is the monitor and graphics card I’m thinking of getting for a new build.
ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER
LG 32GP750-B 32 Inch QHD (2560 x 1440) IPS UltraGear Gaming Monitor with 1ms (GtG) and 165Hz Refresh Rate, NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible with AMD FreeSync Premium
Being that this is 1440p, you don’t have to be as concerned with the cables as if it was 4K, fibbr is probably overkill unless you just want to buy it
The only time I buy fiber cables of any kind is for long runs.
Hi, thank you for all the information. I try to future proof as much as I can afford to do. I’ve purchased KVM’s in the past, but nothing this expensive so I want to make sure I’m getting the most out of it. I think I’ll go with the Cablematters cables and try to keep the total distance to 9’ total. (3’ from monitor to KVM and 6’ from KVM to computer)
