I’m in the middle of connecting my computer upstairs to my TV downstairs, my problem is i can’t find a satisfactory way of switching between screens .
Fx. switching to my 2 monitors when i sit upstairs and my TV when i sit downstairs.
Ideally i just want a keyboard shortcut for it.
Been messing with Displayswitch in windows but that seems to only be made with 2 screens it mind as i can’t switch individually between TV and Monitor with extend to another monitor let alone 3 monitors.
Would rather avoid having to get a KVM as then i would have to physically mode either up or downstair to use it plus i can’t see why this wouldn’t be able to be fixed with software.
You don’t mention either your TV nor your computer specs (other than dual monitor setup).
Let’s assume your graphics card has three output ports (two for your monitors, one for your TV) and accidentally one of your monitors has the same resolution (and ideally frequency) spec than your tv, then simply configure that port as mirrored with the TV port. Whenever you go downstairs control the TV input via TV remote. Consider fishing a long USB cable and connect a small wireless keyboard/mouse combo to control the computer.
Drawback: The TV will not see any app running on the other monitor.
It’s 3 screens.
2 screen’s upstairs, one ultrawide and one 1440p that i want to run as a dual setup when i sit upstairs.
Downstairs i have a 4K 120hz TV for when i sit there.
Actually think i found a solution as of a couple of hours ago.
A program on Steam called Displayfusion can do what i want and i can control it with hotkeys so i don’t need an activate screen to control anything.
I also messed around with Multimonitor.exe (actually seems .exe is part of the name ) and while it has the plus of being free and very light weight i couldn’t for the life of me figure out how to control where it out the screens.
Fx. it would put my minitor 2 to the left of my primary all the time where as i want it to the right with no way of changing that.
Anyway, as said i just got it fixed and i’m a happy camper now.
