Monitor Problem

I have noticed on my monitor recently that one side of my screen is darker than the other. Sometimes it will flicker to normal, it will also flicker to normal sometimes when i bump it.

My monitor is a Yamakasi 2703

2560x1440

60hz

27inch

I was wondering what people think i should do about it becouse its probably a bad connection somewhere.

Her is a picture of the problem. http://postimg.org/image/hw15bl2pr/

I'd never heard of that brand before, but some quick (other forum) searching show that model seems to have issues similar to what you're mentioning. Honestly, if you can do it either RMA or return as it really sounds like a bad line of units.

You could take it apart and fix it easy enough, probably will void your warranty. Best to just RMA it.

Any of idea what the problem actually is internally?

Yamakasi makes some of the best Korean 1440p panels out there.

Probably just be a loose connection from the inverter board to the backlights. Just be careful taking the monitor apart, there will be ribbon connectors that can sometimes be very delicate. Only do it if its out of warranty or your very confident and careful though cause if you break something you wont be able to rma it.

I figured it was a regional brand. I'm still having to explain the existance of companies like Hitachi and concepts like Multi-System television to people within our borders. :-p

Like mentioned below, it's likely the inverter board. Given the right circomstances things can come loose (shipping, moving, etc) and need reseating. If it were an LCD, then I'd point at one of the lamps, but that's why we use LEDs now. As has been said, RMA if possible before disassembly. Should you attempt repair, try for a teardown document on the monitor as it'll help you gage where to proceed. That has kept me from mishandling laptops in teardowns before.
