Monitor power saving issues with fedora 39 kernel 6.11

HI everyone,

Ever since 6.11 dropped, my monitor will not go into power saving mode. it will attempt to do it, for about 5 seconds, then the monitor will turn right back on. This has happened on every upgrade of the 6.11 kernel, up to the most recent 6.11.6.

I’m not sure what the issue is, as it works perfectly fine with 6.10.12

I’m running a ryzen 3 processor with a gigabyte aorus MB, and using an old, old radeon as my main GPU for desktop (have another radeon installed for GPU passthrough)

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this so i can run the current 6.11.6 kernel, instead of using 6.10.12.

If you need any logs or anything, please just ask.

Thanks

F39 is EOL in 2 weeks, I would not be counting on any fixes coming.

Regardless, for the future: If you’re noticing something breaking with a specific update, then basic regression testing would be rolling back that one specific package (i.e. in this case the kernel) and testing if the issue is still occuring. If it’s not then it is likely that package, if it still does, then you know the problem is somewhere else. Fedora makes this easy by keeping the last 3 kernel versions by default so you can just boot into an older one at any time.
