Monitor is there big difference

i want to play some fps game as i got 60hz 4 seconds latency will this harm if i join other players or servers will it really effect me i can kinda play good but i keep hearing people say to be the best 144 or 250 can i still play good does it really matter will my game lag as bad as some videos are on youtube from people who use 144 and more

I mean 144Hz monitors are much nicer overall. Everything is so much smoother even just on the desktop.

However, if you're expecting switching monitors to drastically improve your skill in game then you're gonna be disappointed.

Fact is, unless you're some totally insane professional Counter Strike player who snorts a mix of cocaine, powdered caffeine and Hot Pockets, it's unlikely to make much of a difference. Especially making the jump over 144hz to whatever they are marketing now.

It comes down to what you want in a monitor. Higher resolution, better color, better refresh rate and response time ect and your budget.

Also note that the refresh rate of the monitor isn't going to make any difference if your graphics card can't push the FPS to go along with it (then again for CSGO or any MOBA a potato can push 144 FPS). Sure it will display the 144 (or whatever) Hz, but the time between frames (which is the whole point of this high refresh rate insanity) isn't going to change.

The idea is that with faster frametimes you're able to react faster to whatever is happening. But that requires the frametimes to actually be shorter (and therefore more FPS overall) and it also requires a massive amount of training in a given game because the frametimes alone won't reduce your reaction time. At the end of the day you are the bottleneck, not the monitor.

I use a freaking tv for large screen gaming and have done so for years now and it hasn't made the experience any less enjoyable despite people saying the response time is crap. In regards to your current 60 Hz / 4 seconds latency that is totally fine. As for the 144 Hz monitor and getting more FPS our eyes can only see so many FPS so this idea of these monitors being so much better is exaggerated.

Also in regards to gaming ...

One thing people do in online gaming for an advantage is cheating like for instance they change brightness settings and such so they can see things before others.

Higher refresh rate is going to be an experience enhancer for all people, but only a performance enhancer for the top of the top best players. If your thinking a 144hz monitor to turn you into a godlike player, don't expect it to.

Does 144hz make you feel like a god? YES.

Will you actually be a god? NO.
