My current setup is a 21.5 inch ASUS monitor running off HDMI and my second is a vizio 22 inch television on vga. The problem is that everyonce in a while my main display, the ASUS monitor, will freak out like flashing purple and just make it unusable. This makes it so i have to hard shut down the PC and it really bothers me when i have to do that.. anyone know what might be happening it used to do this when i tried to run an HD monitor off my laptop before as well.. thanks in advance
Have you tried switching the cables? Considering you are using a TV I am surprised that isn't using the HDMI. If that doesn't work, I would try updating your drivers for the ASUS Monitor. If neither of those fix the issue then something is wrong with the monitor itself and I have no idea how to fix that. At that point, I would just get a new monitor or send it in for repairs if it is new.
Or VGA on the monitor. Most monitors support it still. However, you could use DVI if you really wanted to. Go ahead and try it and see if that fixes anything.
