So tbh it’s very hard to read the future. I’m of opinion of if you have the money now and products meets/exceeds what you want then buy it now. If not then wait or don’t buy it.
However, if what has been said about tariffs is true then I would buy now.
Rather recently I had to live with a geforce 1080 for rather too long because of a global virus outbreak happening in close proximity to a global ponzi scheme involving graphics cards “mining”.
I’d just buy it now, probably people looking at 32" 4k OLED have finances in a robust enough place that the money possibly saved by waiting isn’t life affecting. And if it is, heavens consider buying a more humble monitor.
It’s fairly common that getting something now is more expensive than getting something later. It’s because definitely getting something I can use today for a known price, is fairly often a better value proposition than getting something later for an unknown price.
Thanks for the reply guys. I’m still on the fence but will probably pop. I have seen the list price go fro $1299 to $950 in the last couple months and thought it may continue. It’s on sale a couple places for $899.
I don’t need it, as I already have a 32", but would really like to go 4K and oled. I just bought a 4080 Super for this machine which is my Gaming, Media (synths), and AI computer.
For what it’s worth, I got an LG C2 42" as a monitor for about 900 euros 2 years ago. I loved the image of my 55" oled TV and wanted the same in my monitor. If I were in the market today for a monitor I’d get a 32" 4k oled.
In the last few years OLED monitors have come a long way… 2 years ago the only option were 42" models with the same panel as the TV (but more expensive) or 2k+ 27" 1440p monitors. No one knows how much prices will drop but the biggest steps have alreatdy been made. I seriously doubt a 32" 4k will drop below, say 800 dollars/euros soon, but who knows. The tech seems relatively mature now.
Currently a 32" 4k monitor is about the same as a 42" 4k TV (at least in europe). For PC use I’d go with the monitor nowadays mostly due to pixel density and DP ports over HDMI.
I agree on the ultrawides. I really don’t get the appeal. They suck for productivity (I really want vertical space for productivity) and most games. For some games I see the appeal (racing?) but overall I just don’t get it…
Obviously you need to waive the decision between need or want!
Do you really need it or just want it?
With the economy as it is, forking out that much for a monitor that may definately jump in price is a sure damper on wants.
