Money researcher calls Ubiquiti Networks fraud

Yeah. He ranks very high on my bullshit meter.

Looks like hes going to start a grow operation there.

Do you have anything in mind if you were do do it again and go without ubiquiti products?

Unless you put wire screens over the windows that won’t do much… Will only block very large wavelengths.

Modern energy conserving windows are great at absorbing not only infrared, but also radio waves : )

Not really. The wireless gear is pretty good. Ruckus maybe? I forget who they are owned by now

For what it’s worth, I have essentially the exact same situation as you. Kitchen kills all RF (old house with many layers of formerly exterior wall), so I bought that same AP to run into another room on the other side of said kitchen. It’s been working great (very fast wireless, even in the crowded 2.4G space I’m in) for probably a year, now. The only thing I dislike is that changing anything requires ubiquiti’s software, instead of a web interface.

You can enable SSH on the AP and control it that way. I don’t mind the software because it’s decently intuitive and works well overall

yeah the web interface sucks, really wish there was a CLI option

Arris International acquired them from Broadcom earlier this year. (according to Wikipedia).

On February 22, 2017, Arris Group announced an agreement to acquire the Ruckus Wireless unit from Broadcom Limited for $800 million.

The software was a bit stupid yesterday. It informed the that the AP disconnected (had to reconnect my phone to it), but the software kept showing it disconnected, while the Android app said “connected” (and my phone was connected to it, even the laptop). @MichaelLindman suspected a false positive (since it was connected to my devices) but it’s still weird. Not sure what to make of it.

Don’t listen to “Money researchers” - they’re just people trying to get rich by manipulating the marked.

Really happy with my UAP-AC-LR but ubiquiti definitely has some sketchy product history.

I agree. “Money Researcher” is, in my mind, someone who spends their time trying to figure out how to defraud people and get away with it.

EDIT: Look at their stock. It’s not enough to really call it manipulation, but there was a stark drop.

Every stock is overvalued as a consequence of cheap money (low interest rates).
So all you have to do is go on TV and say something negative and that stock will drop.
