Money on the internet

Logan and team,

A while ago the answer was bitcoin but that seems out of reach now. I've probably spent too much time on youtube because I keep seeing those 'I make $$ on the internet! Just follow this definately not shady bit.ly link (The white free candy van of the internet)' but it still begs the question, can I make money on the internet? I have my own computer (good enough for Skyrim) and a decent knowledge of Java. I have books on PHP and of course Google. Is there a way I can get some more money for college through with this? Also servers. I had a friend (he was a senior when I was a freshman in High School) who did some stuff with them. He didn't physically have them but he was still running them for people.

Thanks

P.S. I know a lot of stuff on the internet is spam. 'If you're not paying you're the product,' 'nothing is free' etc. so don't spam me for it. Legit question because my current job isn't enough and I'm a supervisor.

Yes you can make money online but it's always best if you get the real job in your real life. and not the "Internet"

- Have a nice day

I have a real job. I'm actually a supervisor. It's at an amusement park and there is no way I will pay for college, much less a car, with that job alone.

My friend bought a server rack and now he rents them out. He makes pretty good money on that, but nothing would raplace a "real" job.

One way to use your skills and computer is to find some freelance work, say... craiglist?

I usually scan "jobs > software/QA/DBA/etc jobs" and see interesting stuf that I would love to do if I had more time.

Maybe others might suggest better places to find something where you can code at home, might vary depending on your city.

e tailing  is easily something you can do in your free time with very small amount of start up money.

Takes very little to make extra cash with just something as simple as a ebay account.

You can create adbot virus, spread to thousands of computers and use them to send ads or scams.

Does it cover buisness grade internet? The story I heard about basement servers is that the ISP bumps you up to buisness grade. If you can fund buisness grade internet (maybe even fiber / FIOS) with a server bank the bandwidth would be AMAZING.

I'll have to look into that. Thanks.
