Modmic 4.0 Very low volume

Hey there, i just received my Modmic 4.0 but the volume is very low, I've turned the volume all the way up inside windows except for "boost" which adds volume, but also static.

any ideas?

is it plugged into your front panel audio port? If so try using the one in your I/O panel.

Its plugged in IO panel, its the same with the front jack

Is the program you are using turned down? TeamSpeak or Skype have their own mic volume controls. ModMic 4 is also directional. Make sure it is pointed exactly at your voice, it has a right side for it.

Its all on high and the mic is faced the right way, I've allready contacted Antlion about it, but im still open to possible solutions :)

To me it sounds like the mic. Try using it on another computer. If the problem persists, send the mic back and get a replacement or refund.

Is the soundcard realtek by chance? Most of those have terrible mic inputs. I seriously doubt it's the mic and testing it on another PC with a realtek soundcard won't make it much better.

Here is one solution that may or may not work: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNULfk2yCqc

Hey Logan i just purchased the modmic 4.0 after i saw your review, now im concerned since i was going to use my realtek onboard audio i think its the ALC892. your recording quality was excellent what are you using for a soundcard.

I have the same problem with my ModMic 4. I have realtek audio. Has anyone found a solution for this?

Same problem using an Asus STX II,  so maybe this is an Ausu issue?  Although the mic on my Senn pc350 sounded great...

Just got a sound card today so I'm going to check if that fixes it. Like Logan says it seems to be a realtek issue, I'll post again to see if the sound card fixes it.

I kinda forgot all about the thread, but i guess i'll do an update, I got an external amp (the xonar u7 from asus) It fixed the microphone problem and it works perfectly, also i can connect my m50x and logitech 5.1 system at the same time and get a nice audio boost, theres lots of inputs, and i would really recommend the product to anybody looking for a better audio solution.

If you like to play with equalizer settings theres also some decent options, i tweaked my 5,1 system to sound pretty decent (Logitech 906Z) turned off eq settings for my m50x though

If you didn't fix it I had a similar problem and had the easy fix of just boosting the mic gain by 20db in the control panel.

I've recently bought myself a modmic 4.0, had all the realtek issues (ACL892 Chipset). The Sound on the Realtek was crap, so I've searched around the web and found this article.

I'm glad to report that the usage of a cheap "Hama Soundcard" on amazon it's called ""7.1 Surround" - Soundkarte - 7.1" (careful Its way overpriced and not 7.1) solved my "issues" with the modmic.

Also check your recording device settings for AGC ( Automatic Gain Control) and make sure to uncheck it! Makes the sound like 2-5 times worse and quiet.

Hope this helps anyone.
