Modifying GPU Bios for more Agressive auto fan, Tips?

I want to edit my bios for my XFX 5770 for a more agressive stock auto fan control, 50% at 40C, 100% at 69C

the main reason I want to do this is becase I'm testing out a 6800XT for a friend and sapphire trixx is having issues with fans speen, it wants to stick to auto and I'm bitcoin mining right now and auto isn't going to cut it at 1.2v @1Ghz full load, clocks work just fine so I have no intrest in Bios OC, just fan aggression

so what tools or utilities should I use, I've never done this before

also if you guys know of a way to unlock more shaders on a 6800XT XFX XXX edition that would be ballin

It's really easy with EVGA's PrecisionX tool and MSI Afterburner.
I think PrecisionX is only nVidia but MSI Afterburner does ATI, I don't know if it will work with a 5770, but you can try.

that is software control I need to change it at the hardware level, software is wonky with 2 different brands

problem solved it was defualing to the first defalt value in software mode so I just made it start on 100% and I have a NV41 revision so no unlocking for me

Well i setup my XFX 6870 with MSI afterburner, and so far i havent run into any problems
