"Modern" city building games?

So, i've been playing a lot of Anno 2070 lately and i've been absolutely loving the genre, its just that, there isnt really anything to love, i mean Cities XL 2012 is just simcity with better grasphicvs, but some monkey decided to randomly take out part of the source code. It sucks.

Does anyone know any good city builder/manager/etc. games?

sim city. they is coming out wit a new one, methinks. also civilization, if your into nation-scale

Yeah the new sim city will be released in February i think, im looking forward to it but im holding back on the pre-order.... 

On Civ5, is the Gods and Kings DLC necessary?
