Mobo or CPU issues

So like an idiot I plugged in a PCIe card in a PCI slot (in my defense he slots have the same color) and turned the machine on. This resulted in the machine turning on briefly then right back off, the card itself still functions perfectly fine. I think a short occurred or too much current was pulled. I took out all components except the RAM and CPU and it still does the same thing. My current thinking it the mobo is fried as I think the mobo handles the PCI lanes before they go to the CPU. I'm not positive and could use some advice.

Yeah

My guess would be that some of the PCI pins might be fucked up causing a bridge.

I would take the whole mobo out and try and see if you can not see any bent pins.

If you see any, you might still be able to pick the pins apart

I am like 99% sure your mobo is toast, but you could always try and fix it.

pull the motherboard out of the case. take a flashlight that is bright and look down the pci slot that you used and look for anything that looks abnormal. if nothing looks out of the ordinary on the lane, then try to boot if you have a cpu with intergrated graphics. use 1 stick of ram and the cpu only.
if you do not have intergrated graphics use 1 stick of ram the cpu and gpu in the proper slot, and nothing else.
your goal is to get to the bios. if you can get to the bios then try with the hard drive installed, again going to bios . after that works then install 1 more ram stick at a time repeating the process.

if you add anything and it fails to boot remove the item that you installed that made it fail to post. if it fails to boot completley replace moboard then replace cpu if the new board fails to boot with the same cpu.
