I decided to build a new gaming comp using an E8400 cpu and an ati 4870 gpu now i need some suggestions on what mobo to use with it. ty in advance :)
get an X48 mobo.
x48
I'm currently looking at this mobo http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3720517&CatId=3646 what do you guys think?
get it...or i'll kick you in the face.
thats a good board but u can save some money by getting a Asus or Gigabyte x48 that uses ddr2. do you need 3 pcie slots?

What's the difference between the DS4 and DS5? And is the DQ6 optimized for quad?
i love gigabyte but idk. when it comes to a high end board like the x48 gigabytes not who id go for. maybe intel or dare i say asus. tho dfi has a great x48 laparty board.

actually they have like six of em but meh lol
i would recommend p45
and a q6600 not e8400
Pffft, E8400 crushes Q6600...
I agree p45...whether you want q6600 or e8400 its up to you :P
get a p45 mobo, drop the 4870 for a 260 gtx 216 core and go for a q6600
well not really good go p45 n with a nvidia gpu cant. sli. You can go with say a 750I and get a Core 216. Also quad core q6600 is recommend but only if you are planning on overclocking it, other than its gonna be waste
E8400 for gaeming
Q6600 for processing/rendering.
P45 or X38/48 doesn't really matter all the same FSB [besides X38]
Depends on what your needs are.
^frank, isn't another real big difference between those being the pci-e x16 busses? like p45= x8 in crossfire while the x48 is that you keep the x16 when you add the second card?
i'm just getting the p45: p5q mobo, a real bang for the buck at $118 if you're going for a budget build. there's no second x16 pci-e slot because i won't be using crossfire, so it saves me some money. plus it's a 2.0 x16 bus, so i'll be getting the full potential out of whatever gpu i choose down the road. it's got a real strong fsb as well.
X48 if u want to crossfire if u are going with an nivida video card then go with the p45 or a nivida sli board
and the argument for dual versus quad
everyone knows that they are optimizing games for quad core know and it will be a great futer prof to get quad core
yea, now is a good time to get a quad.. or actually, if you want to see even more price drops on the quad, wait like 2-3 months and the q6600 will probably be at $150 before it gets knocked off the shelves for good.
