ML10 Gen9 adding GPU

I have a HPE ML10 Gen9 that only has 2 built in display ports using the integrated Intel graphics on the CPU . I am currently in the process up setting this PC up for my father. I am running in to an issue with Windows 11 using a DP > HDMI cable where the screen goes blank right as windows loads to the desktop.

Am going to disregard the DP ports and I would like to install a GPU in this machine. I have been looking into a GTX 1050 or GTX 1650 that does NOT require external power from the PSU as this unit does not offer that.

Does anyone have any experience running a GPU in their ML10 Gen9? If so what GPU are you using?

Not looking for anything fancy or to upgrade the PSU as my father is almost 80 and does not need this much power.

For what it’s worth, the ML10 Gen9 requires an active DP-HDMI adapter to work properly (per https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=emr_na-c05226637). HPE official part number is K2K92AA but there are after-market options that should work ok and would be a cheaper option than a GPU.

Regarding dedicated GPUs if you still want to pursue that path, both the 1050 and 1650 either have stopped or will stop getting driver updates real soon. I’d consider a card that’s still receiving driver updates. If you just need display outputs a GT 710/730/1030 is a decent enough option, will present no power supply issues and is still available new.

So something like this should work then correct? Found it for $5/OBO on eBay. It wont let me post a link.

Certainly sounds like it should, yes

Decided to order a new RX550 and try that over the GT 1030 or the adapter.
