Mismatch mounting attempt in Linux

I'm in the process of looking into moving over to Linux for main uses from Win 8.1.

So i have been trying Debian 64 Live and noticed that i could mount NTFS drives i had in the computer.
The caviat is that i have a Storage space 2TB (possibly ReFS) and tried nilliwilly to choose a mount option,
now windows got a RAW 2TB drive but ReclaiMe finds the files with ease but it can only recover supported formats, which is not .MKV and other ~800GB.

I was able to save the pictures atleast.

Should i try and recover the Partition or format and try get the files back
or is there a third option?

Gparted has a feature to recovery data off a drive.

Would it recover it to the drive or an other drive?

it should fix the file table to mount it properly. if not then you could backup to another drive.
