Good evening/morning/afternoon to all you fellow gamers.
I bought Mirror's Edge on Steam just a few minutes after the Holiday Sale began. I patiently waited hours for the download to complete (256 kbps download speed) and upon completion, I started the game. Nothing worked.
I get a black screen, and then the game crashes. I've followed everything in this topic and nothing worked for me. By changing the Res X and Res Y values, it tells me a file is corrupt and I have to re-install. I've tried running as admin, running in ALL compatibility modes. I've set a shortcut and used -dx9, -dx10, -sw, -windowed and even -autoconfig, yet nothing worked.
Having played some portion of it on the PS3, I was happy to get it for $5 on Steam for my PC.
So, what can I do to get it running?
PC Specs:
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition (Stock Clock)
I had it crashing with me a while ago, but I changed the ResX and ResY values. That solved it for me, are you sure you're settingt he right variables to your native resolution?
Try using the option in steam to verify the game files.

Verified files. Changing the values gives me a corrupt file message and doesn't allow it to start as I stated in the post above.
This may sound odd, but is your BIOS up to date?
I honestly have no clue. My MB is an Asrock 970DE3/U3S3, how can I update/check for updates? I'm fairly new to PC building and the likes.
Alright, so what you have to do is find the file IN YOUR DOCUMENTS, not in the SteamApps/Common folder. (Like I was looking in, like an idiot)
Go into C:\Users\{USERNAME}\Documents\EA Games\Mirror's Edge\TdGame\Config and edit the Res X and Res Y values to match your resolution (1360x768 in my case)
I hope this clears up anyone having trouble.
Would still like to know how to update my BIOS.
