Mini MMO Rig Challenge

Hello Everyone,

I have a challenge for everyone, I would like to hear your ideas on parts for a tera online/eve online only mini tower gaming rig. It needs to be under $400.

This ends on Feb 13

I already have:

sapphire 6970 2gb

CM elite 343

ODD

Win7 64bit HP

Mouse

Keyboard

Headset

Monitor

Need:

Mobo

CPU

Ram

HDD

PSU

I will select the five best builds and people can vote for the best. The winner gets anything they want in my steam inventory with a few exceptions

Here's my $392.5 suggestion: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2MWIj

Swap the 320GB barracuda drive for a 500GB one will bring you to $400.43 and I didn't want to be disqualified :P (alt drive: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/seagate-internal-hard-drive-st3500418as )

My recommendation: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2MXa0

760K quad-core.

FM2+ Motherboard to allow for future CPU/APU upgrades.

120GB SSD + 1TB HDD.

8GB dual channel 1600 CL9 RAM.

Good quality 80+ bronze 500watt PSU.

All for $399. :)

Keep it up, good job. If it is within $410 as prices change, it is ok.

I would later get a 3rd party heatsink for noise

for now just undervolt it

Eve online is not  multi threaded and nether is tera online thay mainly use single to dual cores you will be better off with a cpu with strong single core performance opposed to a AMD very week per core (allso missing level 3 cpu cache) performance.

CPU: Intel Core i3-4330 3.5GHz Dual-Core Processor ($132.97 @ OutletPC)

Motherboard: Asus H81M-E Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($57.99 @ Amazon)

Memory: G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($76.99 @ Newegg)

Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($63.00 @ Amazon)

Power Supply: XFX 550W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($49.99 @ NCIX US)

Total: $380.94

I complied a list for you, but it is $100.89 over the $400 budget. But all the parts I have and can recommend apart from the motherboard. If it was up to me I would go with the Asus impact. But that is over $200 alone.

So here it is.

SSDKingston Digital 120GB SSDNow V300 SATA 3 2.5 (7mm height) with Adapter Solid State Drive 2.5-Inch SV300S37A/120G

RAMCorsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory (CML8GX3M2A1600C9)

I don't want anything from you. I would just like to share what I would personally get if I was on a budget. :)

Total: $500.89

DeusAres, Cooperman, and Gigabusterexe are in the lead as of now, keep it up.

Here's my build...

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2NiUU

CPU: I went with the i3 for its per core performance. I think the games you'll be playing will benefit heavily from an intel processor. Also, power consumption is nearly half that of a similar AMD build.

Motherboard: For the money, this motherboard is loaded. mATX, USB 3, PCIe 3.0, SATA III, etc.

RAM: Any set of 2x4GB of RAM will do. Doesn't need to be anything special. Performance difference between the cheap and expensive stuff is minuscule.

Storage: I'm not sure what your storage needs are, so I went with a SSD. If all you are going to do is play those two games above, then a 120 GB SSD is plenty of space for now. Learn various techiques to help reduce the amount of space Windows takes up (reduce page file size, delete unnecessary/duplicate data, etc.) If you don't think this will be enough space, then substitute with a 1TB HDD. I highly recommend the SSD though. You can get a high capacity HDD later. Plus, you won't have to reinstall Windows if you go with the SSD now.

PSU: The Rosewill Capstone is a great power supply for the money. It's modular, which will help with cable management. It's also extremely efficient. 450w will be plenty of power to run your system. It's also quiet and produces a small ripple. If you want, you can read more about it here.

I know about capstones, they are really good for their price and high quality.

I only need an ssd as well ,120gb should work

so you'd rather have a 6300 and a SSD than a 8320 and HDD correct?

The games are codes for 2 and 4 cores as a heads up, so this is that one time when intel wins

Not too different from deus Ares's build but I like the NZXT hale 550w better for the price

if you can spend a little bit more money you can get the 550w hale and a i5 in a combo together

also I don't care about the steam codes, I just want to build something
