Mini ITX info? looking for a good 1 please read

Heya I am going for a mini itx build(mainly for the asthetics but also for capabilities)

So for this I am looking for a mini itx that can support i5, raid 0(dont know how this works never done it b4 but going 2 try 2x 120gb ssds and I read something about raid controll which i have no idea if some1 cares to explain) and also supporting ram 1600mhz+ (this is for gaming and I am guesing I wouldnt need more than 1600mhz )

Does any1 know of a motherboard which has such capabilities and will not cost me a fortune?(everything in the uk is MUCH more expensive than the states :(((((  ).

All help is welcome;)

Don't have a mobo to recommend but it would help if you listed which i5 you have.  there are 3 generations of i5.

Sorry to say this, but it really hurts my eyes. Please, could you use less text-message-slang-gibberish and please, could you use your punctuation marks (correctly). I'm guessing that you are a native speaker, so you have learned the correct usage in school. Thanks!

So, back on topic. Like MrJepoy said, if we don't know what generation that CPU is, than we can't give you any recommendations.

Lynnfield, Sandy Bridge or Ivy Bridge I know for sure ;)

Are the 'old' LGA1156 Lynnfield CPUs compatible with the newer LGA1155 (Ivy Bridge) motherboards?

Nope, they aren't, different socket. Also, some Sandy Bridge motherboards are not compatible with Ivy Bridge CPU's, it depends on the manufacturer. Most are, but some aren't, check the compatibility lists.

er.. I am not a native speaker and I feel offended that someone would critisise my english just because I used a SAD FACE EMOTICON and numbers instead of words. One thing I can apologise for is not clarifying the generation and I would think most people would assume 3rd generation(SORRY third generation). I would assume this because newer = more options (usually not always). so for the sake of things Ivy Bridge.

All help is apreciated(to do with the topic and not with my grammar and spelling or whatever Ssoele.be was going on about cause this really irritates me, I am not getting paid for what I write and it is perfectly understandable).

Thank you;) <-Sorry if you cant bare a smilie

no problem dude, do you have a budget and what are you wanting to do with it?  and do you have a Case in mind?

and can someone give me a UK friendly site, all I know is newegg, I need to bookmark a europe site for this kinda thing

I must picked up the ASrock Z77E-ITX. That one will do the trick. It can do everything you need. Also, EVGA has a Z77 ITX board... it will be out soon.

Im looking for gaming;) EVGA Makes motherboards now? Uk sites I know of are scan.co.uk ebuyer.com overclockers.co.uk and thats it. LOGAN Please make a UK pc! its much harder to build a budget gaming pc:/ I know you guys are based in the states but you do have European fans/viewers;)

thanks for the sites do you have a budget?  in the mean time I'll shoot for 650E until you tell me otherwise

Case

SSD

CPU

Mobo

RAM

Heatsink

PSU

GPU

the case comes with a PSU and thw wattage is fine for the system77w CPU and 64w GPU but they usually put CHEAPO PSUs in with those, I highly would recommend the PSU I posted, its Seasonic, super quality parts, modualar, and 80+ GOLD

the heatsink will be about 10C cooler than stock, but if you can grab an H40 or H60 that would be even better

Raiding means you combine 2 drives, due to the problems that goes with it, I would just get one big, fast SSD

If you want a DVD drive (that you'll hardly ever use) it only takes slim drives

Do you know how to Install windows 7 with a USB stick?

Case: Bitfenix Prodigy - i love this one for mini ITX, space for full length gfx cards and you can watercool with space inside. It also supports ATX sized PSUs... awesome case.

Motherboard: Asus P8Z77-I - Supports ram clocks upto 2400mhz (atleast they claim) and good for overclocking

Im using these the current build im working on ;) Good Luck on yours

I tried to keep it low cost and a smallest form factor, how was the price on mine, I don't work on UK builds often and usually stick to newegg

Look Im doin this and estimating that the highest I will go is 750 GBP. The case I am goin for is a black bitfenix prodigy(thing looks awesome with only 1 fault:( it doesnt have a c-thru side panel:(). I am not going cheap on 2 things, GPU(thinking a 660 (please let me know which 1 is better I haven't been out for a vga for years now and I know theres GTX models TI models etc), and CPU is going to be an i5 3rd generation overclockable(even though I doubt I will over clock it with a small case like that please do suggest your opinions on this matter) as for storage I will be going for a cheap 1TB or 500GB hd, as I have 2x 120gb SSDs sitting around. I am NOT looking for any blue ray bundle all in 1 whatever:P I dont mind a blu ray or DVD to be honest(this is 1 thing I am willing to go cheap with). Ram is another thing I have stumbled behind, what is a reasonable speed.. I know I am not going lower than 8gb but what clock speed(Mhz ? 1600? 1333? 2000? what do you think)

Thank you to every1 for there really insightfull info up to now you guys are great. Forgot to mention 1 more thing as far as installing OS :P Im good at that since windows 95;) even if its a usb drive or whatever.

I apologise for responding late to my own topic as I have been extremely busy with uni:( Thanx again to every1 helping me clear out some of my stupid questions

Okay I'll get started on it in a little bit

bump?
