Hey Guys so I had a thought today. "Hey this new build im doing, wouldnt it be cool if I hooked it up to my tv and used steam big picture and throw out my xbox??" So I was thinking. Have any of you used the mini itx Bitfenix prodigy case for a mid-high end gaming pc? I'm going to ge using an i5-3570k and a nvidia 680 twin froze OC from MSI. I thought it would look pretty cool in my home theater and be kinda portable to. The only thing im worried about is air flow. I do know you can put a H100 cooler in it for the cpu, but I was worried about the graphics card. Anyways, I think it would be super cool to do that, jsut not so sure just yet. I dont really want a 27inch high tower next to my home theater. So if I went thatway I would stick it by my desk and play it off my 27inch monitor.
Anyways let me know what you think,
Kevin
"Bitfenix Prodigy"
jesus christ when will people learn
the damn thing is larger than most MATX cases, costs more, has less expansion slots and the only MITX motherboards are intel
Well I was kinda hoping for someone to give helpful comments not rude condesending ones. Thanks for nothing bud.
that sounds pretty cool, considering the prodigy is a really cool looking case. the only problem i would identify would be if it would get a bit cramped in there with your h100 and your 680.
oh btw the correct terminology is micro-atx, not mini, mini is alot smaller.
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/HQH0 here is a build I was gonna do, but this was over $1,000 over my budget xD but this would be so cool! Built in Wi-fi on the motherboard! But a couple things. I chose black for the mesh on the front and better airflow, and I would remove the hard drive cages so you can mount that 200mm fan and make it nice and chilly (= Then you can mount your 2 SSDs on these two spots by where the hard drive cages were. If you want them anywhere else, just get some velcro strips with adhesive on them and mount em wherever the hell you want. One more thing, with the H100i, I personally would mount the radiator in the case and the fans just above it outside of the case for better airflow (yes, it's easy) For an OS, I reccomend Ubuntu. It's ten bucks for the disk on Amazon, or you can download it on a USB stick on your current computer for free and boot your new computer from that (= And to the fella with the rude comments up top, this is this fella's build, not yours so please stay out if your comments won't help this fine man. If he wants a Prodigy, that's what he wants. Hope I was a help kevindavid3, and hope your build goes GREAT! (=
And in a few months, get 16 GB of Ram, a 3770k, and a Titan if you damn well feel like it.
The bitfenix prodigy is cool as a lan party kinda thing.
Phosgene wasn't being rude. Unless that case really means alot to you and someone saying the truth about it really offends you.
MicroATX is a better route. BUT, if for some odd reason you really want it go for it.
The only thing im worried about is over heating due to the space. Ive seen alot of high end builds with this case and no complaints with anyone. I'm jsut worried casue my last 3 laptops which where all 1000$+ said they where a multi media gaming powerhouse......every single one of them overheated and kicked the bucket. But I havent desktop gamed in years and even back when i did they all lasted forever.
With the 200mm fan in my build, you're safe. and it comes with a 120mm exhaust too.
Ya i'm going to put a 200mm blue led in the front and a 140 in the back and a 120 in the top so I think I should be good as far as tempurtures go. And i may even swap out the 212 evo cpu cooler for a h60 too.
