Minecraft Bedrock Server Lag

I am have a Minecraft Bedrock server running on a windows PC desktop with a I3-2100 CPU with a MSI R7770 GPU that is running pretty good. I have acquired a Dell R430 1U server with duel xeon E5-2620 V3 CPU’s with 8Gb of ram each running Ubuntu Server 20.04 that I want to move the Minecraft server to so I can set the desktop PC up for a flight sim. When I try to run the Bedrock server on the R430 I have a lot more lag then the desktop and this is in the local network. I will have access to it out of my local network as soon as I can figure this lag issue out. Is there something that I need to do to give the server program access to more of the ram? Should I try to find a better set of CPU’s? Would putting a GPU in it make any difference?

What are you seeing in the logs of the server?

Not many people are running bedrock here so I dont know how much help you’ll find.

I will have to look when I get home, we started playing on console but we do plan to switch to Java just need to upgrade our PC’s first, they are a bit ancient.

Well unfortunately bedrock dedicated server is still pretty new. Your issues could stem from it’s alpha state.

Maybe, but i can’t be the only one with this issue… maybe i could try running it on free nas instead of ubuntu?

I doubt you’ll have any luck running it at all on freenas given its based on freebsd and not linux but its possible.

What guide did you follow to get it installed?

It doesn’t look like Minecraft bedrock edition runs on Linux at all.

There wasn’t really a guide. Downloaded it, unzipped it, they have you open a terminal from the folder and run a command to start it. They do have a guide on how to configure the world.

The Bedrock Dedicated Server program does

ok, just making sure you didnt follow some older unofficial guides.

Should I try to run a VM of windows to run it?

without knowing what issue you’re actually having, I cant say for certain.

This is what has been reported

This poster has the same issues as OP.

Could just be a legit performance regression.

Right but we’ve done no testing on the server to verify you arent running into some limitation of the hardware.

Yeah, given its alpha state and the release of 1.16 I wouldnt put it past there just being issues with the dedicated server.

Its not limited to the PS4, there are PC players that have the same lag problems

Its just weird the the instance in ubuntu is having issues when the windows machine isn’t having the same problem and it is much older hardware

I posted it because other people are having similar issues with the latest release version, not specifically because it was with a ps4.

You should create an account on their Jira and comment on this posters issue noting that you experience the same issues with a variety of different hosts: as well as your sever specs.

Most of us run the Java version here so its a bit outside our wheelhouse.

I was under the impression that they arnt really supporting the server program, they just put it out there for people to use.
