Military themed rig

Been a while since I've posted here. I'm looking to make a Military themed rig based off of the Corsair C70. I'm tired of going on leave back home and not having a gaming PC available to game or work on, so when I go back home to FL after my time here in HI I'm going to do this as a project while on leave. Its going to be a low/mid range gaming PC, no point in putting high in parts in PC that wont get that much use.

I'm looking at using the ASUS Maximus VIII Ranger, Intel Core i5-6500, value DDR4 RAM (maybe from crucial, ect), Samsung M.2 950 pro 256GB, eVGA 960 GTX, Corsair 750W PSU, Win 10 Home.

I've been looking for ideas or suggestions for parts to add to it, such as case fans to add to the look of it.
For example I'm torn between these two types of fans Yellow Fans or Noctua Fans.

Any suggestions or input you guys have will be greatly appreciated. Also this build wont really be happening till AUG/SEP timeframe when I return back to the south.

So what budget? Also a bunch of new stuff will be out by then

Have ya checked out the HAF XB EVO? might be a better case option, not as crazy tall or anything

Hear is my C-70 that I just built. Green SP120's in the front intake, 3 Red SP120's inside + 2 Red SP140's on the 280mm rad pushing out the top.

I chose red for the interior to mimic red lighting on Naval ships and the green front for contrast and it was reminiscent of my hundreds of hours on NVG's.

The MoBo has native red accent lighting and I have Crucial Ballistix Tracers for RAM (They blink with activity but have different modes)

I also installed a custom window (http://mnpctech.com/mnpctech-clear-case-pc-panels/corsair-c70-window-replacement-clear-fan-holes-120mm/) because the stock one sucks ass.

Nice layout, I saw the custom window design eariler from mnpctech (forgot to mention it in my first post). But I might use that idea for the Red/Green. I originally wanted to put a red LED strip or something inside my case but I might get some LED case fans instead. As for the RAM cause I'm trying to get cheap but value DDR4 RAM I'll go with bare bones for now. Btw what model ship is that above the case?

PS. to Streetguru I would use that cause if I was doing a more HTPC/emulator box. I have had my eye on that one before but I have my desire for a full on semi portable emulator box shelved right now.

Star Citizen Constellation

I love the C70. If it wasn't so big I'd still have mine.

(Corsair, make a C50 please?)

A Maximus VIII Ranger maybe is a bit overkill for a non-K processor, if you're not going to upgrade to a K processor in the future. Noctua fans look a lot like sand camo so I prefer them insted of the bright yellow of the Corsair's one. Also would suite the theme very well a Sabertooth motherboard, with the armor on. Another thing would be getting the black perforated backplate for the 960 and, maybe, give it a little spraypaint to make it tie better the theme.

So I'm a bit curious about what performance I'll get with the i5-6500 and a stock 960 gtx in games like metal gear solid v and final fantasy xiv. I'm just looking for 1080p/60fps for this build. I'm worried I have to upgrade to a 970 gtx. I can't seem to find any reviews for 960 gtx with the recent drivers/patches that came out with these games.

For 60FPS on 1080 save yourself some cash on the GPU and get a GTX 960 but grab a 4GB model or better yet grab the 380X Nitro from Sapphire. I would spend the extra cash on the 6600K if you can swing it. Maybe ave for another couple of weeks or whatever to get the extra funds for it?

if you want to build a military theme´d build, then maybe you want to look at a Sabertooth board.

Depends on what branch, if it is navy theme it will need bright work (brass) that needs to be polished once a week:)

Do you want to do any sort of mods to the case?
If so I saw a YouTube video where a guy used modders mesh to enclose the psu.
I'm fiddling with my c70 I'll post something once I get off my ass.

That Gigabyte X170 Extreme also looks neat.
I suppose its not cheap?

Also yeas go with a unlocked K cpu, its allways nice to have the ability to overclock.
especialy with Z170 boards like this.
With a beta bios you can overclock a 6500 aswell.
But there are a few pro´s and con´s to that.

I haven't been able to find pricing on them anywhere quite yet.

Although I do know that ASRock's more aesthetically pleasing Xeon motherboards (C226 WS and whatnot) have run about US$180, so I'm thinking that with the features I see on the Gigabyte boards that they'll probably end up being US$150 and up depending on the model.

you can start from here too

Thanks for the help. I'm still budgeting out parts and looking for some smaller items (such as vent filters and case fans and LEDs). But what would you guys suggest is the best way for doing system recovery/imaging for windows 10. I want to install it on the PC for my mother and have the drivers and programs installed and make recovery media/image in case she needs to restore the PC back to day one settings. I also want to do monthly backups onto a network storage drive, but I don't want to fill up the drive. What software would you guys recommend.
