Milan X for MS SQL Workloads?

Hi everyone,

Anyone here using 3D cache EPYC for high compute MSSQL workloads? We’re in the process of building out a new server here to replace an existing 1P 7F52 machine. Looking for any and all opportunities to improve bottlenecks in CPU time. Would like to understand if there are any real world users who have gone down this road.

Genoa is shipping soon, we were lucky to be able to try it at work and the memory bandwidth makes all the difference, it’s a custom soft-realtime c++ Linux app where our throughput practically doubles at same target latencies If you think Milan X might help over Milan, … try to get your hands on Genoa. (… can you rent it from some cloud already for a few days?)

Then again, if your workloads are not bandwidth constrained, meh, get whatever is cheaper.
