Total: £607 give or take a few pennies
Better RAM, better card, better power supply and the case has a little better airflow as far as I know but it doesn't really matter, they're the same price, go for either.
I would just add to KnightNight's build Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3, has 8+2 phase power, better for OC-ing, everything else couldnt be better...
Was thinking of putting that in but isn't the 970 chipset considerably worse than 990x for overclocking?
nope, only real difference is in multi graphics support
There is also the thing of quality of components manufactures install in cheaper vs more expensive MB, but in this range I guess its ok to go for 970 chipset
990FX
Up to 4-way SLI & CrossFire
PCIe Speed: 1x16, 2x16, or 4x8
990X
Up to 2-way SLI & CrossFire
PCIe Speed: 1x16, or 2x8
970
Up to 2-way CrossFire
PCIe Speed: 1x16, or 2x8
I will do video editing, so, radeon is out of question;
And I don't need 1tb. 500gb is enough for me. I'll add a secound hdd with 2 tb latter. I don't need 8+2 power phases since I wont push the cpu that much. Only a mild OC
the gigabyte GA-970A-ud3 is a great board. unfortunatly it probably needs a bios update first to support the FX-X3XX out of box.
grtz Angel
yeah. that to.
So I'm better with this board. You ( MisteryAngle ) were the one that told me about the m5a97 evo r2.0
yes if you dont care about crosfire or sli, and gonne run a single gpu. then the asus is a good choice.
its comes with a 6+2 power phase so that gives a bit overclocking potential. ofc not crazy things but logan did an overclock on the asus M5A99fx pro r2.0 to 4.6 ghz stable. the M5A97 evo r2.0 has the same power phase design.
and revision 2 means it support FX-x3xx out of box.
the gigabyte is a bit better in overclocking ofc 8+2 power phase design, but if you dont care about it. then the asus is great.
Gigabyte is realy nice board, but i dont know if there are any revision models arround, with flashed bios out of fabrick, i cant find anything cleare about it, only that the board for fx 2.0 need a bios update.
I really don't care about OC. I'll run a gtx660. I don't need to OC. I may try, but if I do, first will be with the stock cooler to maybe 4.2ghz. Then I'll latter buy a decent heatsink and push a litle more. Thanks
Then the asus evo is a good choice. for the price ☺ i have this board my self.
if want to be 100% sure and not any headaces about support FX 2.0 out of box then the asus ☺ i guarantee it works 100 % :p
for the gigabyte GA-970A-ud3 you might need the Rev3.0 version i suppose.
its a hit ore a mis with those boards, depending on what the sellers have in stock, if you have hit then you get a r3.0 if you have a mis you get a rev 1.0 or 1.1, then you stuck :s cause thats flashed for FX zambezi FX1.0
And I'm a first time builer so I don't have nothing. Only a old intel chip. Probably dual core.. but is from more than 5 years xD
And I won't sli. If it's to update, I'll sell my gpu and get a single better gpu :D
yes thats a good option and the asus board is good enough, about rendering yes you can better save the money, and upgrade to a better gpu later GTX680 or maybe the 780 later.
indeed. I love the green cards xD
I will do video editing, so, radeon is out of question;
If you use sony vegas you will regret that statement
