Microsoft will Increase Windows license fees for high end hardware

Good one

That’s hardly much of a story. There’s no source or confirmation. There’s a rumour they may increase pricing for computer vendors based on hardware. That’s all it says.

They’ve done this before though with previous versions of Windows. Need to wait and see

However, Microsoft has yet to confirm this news.

They charge more if you have more RAM, no?

Wine and DXVK better move a lot faster if big developers like Epic Games refuse to support Linux, but have no problem supporting everything else.

Vote with your wallet. Don’t spend money on those games.

What if it becomes the most popular game in the world? Fortnite and Sea of Thieves for example. You can’t honestly say you have to put up with peer pressure for that long… There will be a breaking point.

I still haven’t played overwatch. (:

Team fortress 2 exists on steam for Linux.

See, I went ahead and made sure it worked in Wine. It did back when Wine Staging was 2.21, but now the rebase needs so much work to get the performance back to acceptable levels.

PUBG and Fortnite with Battleye? Impossible at this current state in Wine. Windows Store titles won’t run until the DX12 to Vulkan code is complete.

Not wrong if you go to a LAN party and your friends say “Why don’t you suck it up and install Windows 10, you dummy? Quit being a buzzkill.”

Thank goodness GPU passthrough exists.

No friends IRL to LAN with :’(

It’s one way to push towards low end hardware. As a result they can only successfully run apps from the store. MS is pushing Windows for the “regular” consumer in to a mobile OS like store driven experience.

Well everyone on the planet already has a windows licence so there aren’t any more customers to sell the product to. So MS has to squeeze out more money from the existing customers.

I am guessing such a system.would only.work on stuff like Microsoft store. Where you are using you PC to buy your own key.

Otherwise like you said I am not sure how this would work.

Either way the grey market looks better and better every day, that and Linux.

You know they’re gonna force Windows 10 S by default very soon.

I had forgotten that existed.

I see the usual crowd glossed over these details lmao.

I’m highly suspect of this rumor. This goes against Microsoft’s actual actions and words. They’ve opened sourced many of their core technologies and they did a reorganization that focuses more on AI and Cloud Technologies.

Lol’d at Windows S becoming the standard OS for Windows. What source do you have for this, besides blind hatred? They did the S thing to compete with Chromebooks. Hell, now I think you can upgrade S to Windows Professional.

Yeah you just have to pay for the new license.

You ALWAYS pay for the new license.

Nothing new. Upgrading from Home to Pro costs too
