So I am a big fan of Linux, I use Ubuntu Gnome daily. But there are some applications and games that I want to use...So I am considering Using Window's 10 in a VM, Will Windows 10 still be able to spy on me? I am going to take precautions. (Like the one's in Logan's recent Windows 10 spying video) So if I take those precautions, will I still have my privacy? Much thanks.
Windows won't be able to access anything that you do outside of the VM.
Whatever you do inside the VM will be possible to be sent to microsoft by the telemetry if the VM has internet.
Everything outside the VM are safe.
Keep in mind that you might share your clipboard with the VM or have a shared folder. That will be visible to the Win10 VM too. Clipboard sharing and shared folders are not activated by default though.
Well you can deny the VM internet connections by turning off the virtual network bridge. And turn it on when you want to play something multiplayer.
As others have said the VM won't be able to see what you are doing on the Linux host machine. You could have some fun with Cortana by searching tons of brony related subjects. Maybe if we all did that it would render the telemetry useless.
Someone should write a programm that accesses cortana via the API and takes snippets from youtube videos and hands it to cortana as a search request.
Ok thanks for all the replies. ^_^
So much necro thread right now..
