My SteelSeries Siberia V2 microphone is quite annoying, ive tried multiple times to record some gameplay but the mic has some serious static, so i did some tests and it even produces static when muted example. Headset is plugged into the rear ports.

Im looking at getting better headphones and mic but if they would have the same problem i dont even want to think about it.
About a month ago a friend of mine had an issue with a steelseries headset (sorry can't remember the model) that also produced constant static even when muted. It also had a feedback issues. Pretty much a dealbreaker when you can't use a gaming headset for voice comms. So he ended up returning the steelseries to retailer. We Didn't do any diagnosis to try and isolate the issue.
Sorry I couldn't offer any help, just confirming I've witnessed the same problem with a steelseries branded headset recently. Bad batch of subpar mics sent to Steelseries ?
I'd try the headset on another PC and see if the problem persists. Also is it only when you use the mic? Do you get static any other time? Have you tried using the mic but different headphones or speakers? Do you still get static then? If static persists through all these tests then most likely there is a bad connection somewhere in the headset. You would also want to try a different mic on the same port on your motherboard to verify if it is the port or not.
If you can unplug the mic and see if it still registers static. Static can be from a none shielded cable running by cables with power or placed by cell phones. If with no mic connected; its still present its, probably a crappy auto issues with the chipset on the motherboard. Solution in that case is to buy a sound card.
