Metal bands for non Metalheads?

Never tried metal, but i love trying new music. like erything from classical to rap. Can you suggest me 3-4 groups that are metal. Maybe different variations of metal. I wouldnt want 3 groups that all sound the same. Thanks for the suggestions in advance.

Metal has a lot of sub-genres. I would love to help, but could you be more specific?
Here are a few of the bands i listen to:

Nile

Marilyn Manson

Black Label Society

Metallica

Black Sabbath

Rob Zombie

Nothing aggressive:

Hallowed Be Thy Name - Iron Maiden

Nothing Else Matters - Metallica

More aggressive, but nothing too extreme:

Machine Head - Halo

Highly recommend this album

Iconclast by Symphony X. Have a skip through.

Wow... You're right, man... 'tis a bit difficult.

It might grow on me though.

Thanks everyone. I listened to metal for a good 5-4 days before coming to some conclusions. I learned that unlike pop songs, metal songs usually last more that 4-5mins lol. I really like the progressive metal specially "Tool" and "Dream theather". I also like the "fallujah". I tend to skip over some of the agressive song while listening on my phone.  In the end I found that i enjoy metal, and i hope i can call my self a metalhead now, lol (sounds so cool). Thanks again everyone.

That's really good, man. I wasn't sure if we would hear back from you.

No problem, man. Enjoy.

Just Google "Metal genres"/ "Metal sub-genres" and just sift though the list.

Go to YouTube and just type "progressive metal" or "Black Metal" ect... And just click on stuff. Who knows what you'll find.

I am amazed he could listen to Fallujah. It was a suggest from the boss.

I think he should try a bit of Symphony X, if he likes Dream Theater. And more Opeth, if that's the direction he wants to take.

Shit the songs here are freaking amazing

Another newcomer? :)

You ever heard of Djent. Its a sub genre which is mainly just hardcore guitar and by hardcore nothing to extreme.

my suggestions for non-metalheads are Opeth, Isis, Katatonia, Alice in Chains, Trivium(The Crusade & In Waves album for starters), Early Avenged Sevenfold (don't like current stuff), Black Label Society(Ozzy style), Blind Guardian(Irish style metal), Corelia(new band with potential), Deftones(great band, especially around the females), Dream Theater (good prog stuff), Drowning Pool(1st album sinner is great), Disturbed, Iron Maiden (great classics), Judas Priest, Korn(Some great radio friendly songs), Lacuna Coil(mmh Cristina Scabbia!), Mastodon (crack the skye & the hunter album), Megadeth (Rust in Peace & Countdown to Extinction albums), Metallica (Master of Puppets, ...And Justice For All, & Metallica albums), Motley Crue, Nine Inch Nails, Porcupine Tree (prog rock/metal), Rage Against the Machine, Ramstein, Rob Zombie, System of a Down(Toxicity Album), Van Halen.

Hopefully that covers a wide variety of genre's in metal.
