Memory sticks: same model number, different type according to online search results. Fake modules or just OEM models?

I’ve been encountering this weird phenomenon when researching for cheap used RAMs sold in online marketplaces, they tend to be low profile, without all the LEDs & tall heatshinks. Some model number is just hard to find or unlisted in their brand site, I remember one (I eventually gave up trying to figure out which company manufactured the chips and if it worth the gamble of cheap but questionable mobo compatibility) was a Kingston OEM for Aurora7, probably just a Value model made specifically for Alienware/Dell.
But then, I found some models which just don’t correspond to their types, for example this DRAM stick’s model number is M471A1K43BB1-CRC, which according to SAMSUNG site is SODIMM!

Anyone know what’s this about?
