Megaraid sas 2108 Consistency Check

I have a supermicro branded lsi sas2108 raid card running a 7 disk raid 6. It’s been working fine but after about a week I noticed it was running a consistency check… OK, no big deal. It took 3 days to complete slowing performance but no to the point it mattered. Installed the LSI megaraid storage manager software for linux and after I logged in, I noticed it was running the check again. Found this odd, but didn’t think anything of it, again, it finished in about 2 days.

Then probably 2 days after it finished it was running the check again. I’ve seen that this can happen but I can’t get a clear path to shutting the consistency check down/setting to manual. The software has an “advanced software” menu, but I don’t have a key.

This is the only code in the log, and it’s repeating. The manual has no explanation.

ID = 113
SEQUENCE NUMBER = 617522
TIME = 16-11-2020 01:24:08
LOCALIZED MESSAGE = Controller ID: 0 Unexpected sense: PD = Port 0 - 3:0:3Power on, reset, or bus device reset occurred, CDB = 0x28 0x00 0x21 0xf4 0x12 0x80 0x00 0x00 0x80 0x00 , Sense = 0x70 0x00 0x06 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x0a 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x29 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00

Anyone have any tips?

How about something like:

megacli -AdpCcSched -Dsbl -aALL

Check smart on disks. Always good idea to run monitoring, I don’t know much proprietary solutions but there’s probably some in LSI soft.

Beside controller whats in your setup? Backplane or fanout?
Because if i saw “sensing” message usually it was connection problem, like cable. Easy to check and replace.
Could be also power issue. But rather unlikely on backplane, moreso with fanout.
