Mechanical keyboard suggestions

Hey everyone,

I'm going off to college soon and am looking to get myself a new keyboard. When I first built my system, I went with the Rosewill RK-9100. I liked the mechanical switches but didn't like the super loud clicking of the MX Blue switches.

As I go to college, I need something that is good for writing papers, coding, and maybe some gaming. I think I'd prefer backlighting, but if it's backlit I'd want white lights. I'd also want something relatively minimalist. I've also been told that I tend to hammer away at my keys at times.

The CODE keyboard with MX Clear switches seems like my best bet so far. Any other suggestions?

(Other ones I've looked at so far: http://4stor.com/xU8gI -- Those are all on eBay, but I'm willing to buy new as well)

I'm not sure wether the K70 RGB with brown switches is out yet.. But I would go for it, the old one was great :) RGB just means that you have millions of colours (opposed to one, it was previously not possible to implement RGB LEDs in mechas).

It won't be out till the end of August (the K70 RGB that is).  The standard K95 has white LEDs, but it uses Red switches (quiet, but no tactile feedback), and it's not exactly what I'd call minimalist lol.  The Logitech G710+ has brown switches and white leds, but it's also not minimalist at all.  The WASD Code you linked is a good choice (WASD makes great boards).  Deck, Ducky and Max all have have white led keyboards with brown switches in their lineups as well, and all are great brands:

I have a K70 with reds. It's pretty loud. It kicks ass for gaming but it's only mediocre for typing. I say wait for the K70 with browns.
