Mechanical keyboard birthday gift advice

My cousin will have his 19th birthday next month and I really want to buy him an awesome mechanical keyboard, he never used a mechanical keyboard before. I'm not sure what switches to buy... I can't ask him, because I want it to be a surprise. (I like blue, my brother likes green and my GF will use only red switches)... What kind of switch should I look for? I don't know his keyboard preferences... I really want to get for him the keyboard he'd like... And we can't ask to replace them if he won't like them because in my area, no store has a mechanical keyboard... So I'll be buying it online (and shipping will probably be over $50) so it won't be realistic to ask for a refund and ship it back...

If you don't know what he likes, and we don't know, how should we tell you?

However, Browns are a very versatile switch overall.

I was asking what is the type of switch most people like? Highest chance for it to get it right...

Browns :|

Thanks!

I think that browns and reds are the most well rounded it just weather or not you like the bump or tactile part of it.  I use blacks which are just like reds just a little heavyer but the blues feel nice but they are really loud and if you are not knowing what you are getting with blues and greens it might annoy some people.  I think the reds are easyer to get used to coming from a membrane keyboard like I did with no tactile feedback.  But if he has commented on how he likes yours with blues or your brothers greens I would go with browns.

He never saw my keyboard. He lives a very long distance from me, and he doesn't have a car... So every time we meet in the past two years we did it at his place...

So I only can wish I knew... And if I come to his place with my blue keyboard and my GF's red keyboard he will know what I'm going to buy him...

I'm looking at the Zowie Gear CELERITAS Cherry MX Brown... What do you think?

I think he will like any switches more than rubber dome anyway.

If he's touch-typing and he doesn't play a lot of games, I would get him blue.

Browns are kinda more universal but I personally don't like their actuation force.

Blacks and reds are primarily good for very few keyboard-heavy games like Touhou but blacks are also the most common stiff switches.

You might also consider Cherry MX Clear switches.

It just so happens that this Azio Levetron Mech5 is on sale at NewEgg, $40 off, $70 total: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823839012&nm_mc=EMC-EXPRESS070613&cm_mmc=EMC-EXPRESS070613-_-EMC-070613-Index-_-Keyboards-_-23839012-L06C

Just bought one. I currently have a Logitech G110, which is not a bad keyboard, it's pretty good actually, but I though I'd treat myself to some mechanical goodness I keep hearing about.
