McAfee is about to expire

My McAfee subscription is about to end in a week, and I was just wondering what is the best anti-virus, and why? Not saying I've had any problems with my current one. Just curious if there's anything better. I hate wasting time, and money testing things...preferably looking for opinions from experience. (Running win 7 64bit if that helps any)

Thank you.

I use Avast (free) in conjunction with Malwarebytes (free), and my systems have been clean since I've installed this particular software on my computer.  It's also light on system resources.  Just make sure you stay away from shady websites.  Don't open weird emails or download sketchy files....the usual precautions.

Thanks for the input DeusAres. That's why I was asking to see if there is any security software that would keep me from being paranoid on the net, but I guess I'll never escape it. lol. It's just I drop four digits into a pc so I'm extra paranoid now...-_-

Do you, or anyone else know what Logan, and Wendell use?

I think I heard one of 'em mention something about nod32, but I'm not sure if that's what they use.

And I can definitely relate to that paranoia.  Dropped $800 on my PC, and I'm getting ready to spend more on upgrades in October. :)

I use Kaspersky in my machine to clean up PCs from clients who use norton, mcaffe, nod32, windows essentials, etc.

The very best antivirus you can use is common sense, but that is very rare to find these days.

for those who want a decent anti virus and don't mind paying I recommend trend, but I personally don't run any anti virus on my machines

That video was absolutely ridiculous. lol

If you don't want to spend money I reccommend avast or microsoft security essentials along with malwayrebytes.

If you are willing to pay the best performance is from Bitdefender total security or Vipre Antivirus premium (vipre has a great firewall and uses up the least system resources).

what is the best anti-virus

All anitiviruses are bad, none of them provide reliable protection. If you want to be secure, use common sense. In most cases it's user who downloads and launches malware himself. For everything else there are simple security measures.

I don't mind spending money for a piece of mind, and I do tend to watch everything with suspicion whenever I'm about to click on it. Unless it's something I know isn't going to have a virus like a youtube video on youtube. I'll just go with Bitdefender, or Vipre like JT suggested. Thank you to everyone who commented.
