Maxwell Architecture? Is it worth waiting for?

I currently own a EVGA 570 HD. I recently saw that nVidia will be releasing the Maxwell serie architecture and I was having a hard time deciding if I should wait for Maxwell to to come out, or buy the 680 4GB right now. Any suggestion will help! :D

Your 570 should still be pretty good, why do you want a new card right now? I would wait for the 780 (or what ever its called)

a 570 is just fine... it's worth waiting for.

What is it you want to do that you can't do with your current card? The rumors about Maxwell suggest that it will not be around before 2014.

It is having a hard time keeping up with games like Arma and it crashes often due to high temperatures. I just want a card that can be future proof and have better performance in GPU intensive software.

High temperatures might be a problem with your case ventilation, but my knowledge about 500-series nvidia is limited though. A 680 should be more than adequate though. And I don't think there is any real gain with the 4 GB version, unless you're running very high resolution like surround on three screens and the like. I have a overclocked 670 card with 2 GB memory and it can handle Borderlands 2 at 1920x1200 with everything at max and ~60 FPS. Gets decent performance in folding@home, usually about the same as my 4 core Xeon @3.3 GHz.

Correction, the four core Xeon is usually not close to the 670 in folding, the latter gets almost 40k ppd. The Xeon have touched that on some projects, but usually it is around 10k ppd.
