Maximum/recommended RAM for Asus B350-F?

After adjusting some USB settigns scattered all over the place in the ESXi interface, I’ve finally gotten a Windows gaming VM up and running on my Asus Strix B350-F with VMware ESXi 8.0.2. Everything appears to be working properly, but I’m running up against RAM constraints if I want to do much more than game.

I’ve currently cobbled together 48GB of mismatched DDR4 sticks. But due to their grab bag nature, I’ve had to set them to pretty crappy timings to get them to play nice together. Thus I’m in the market for a new matched set of RAM.

There is a QVL list for approved RAM, but it appears to be quite old. I’ve also upgraded the CPU to a 5700G, so the improved memory controller may also change the equation. Asus originally specced the board at 64GB, but between higher module densities of modern sticks and the new RAM controller that may not apply.

Given all that, any thoughts on how much and what kind of RAM I should upgrade to?

Do you have the RAM thick provisioned or thin?

I guess you want a 4x32GB kit? I would suspect it works on a new agesa and CPU but of course there are no guarantees if it is not on the QVL.

Given how cheap DDR4 is, it may be worth the risk to just buy a kit and try it out?

Or get a second hand kit and sell it at no or minimal loss if it does not work?

64 gigs 4x16gig of ddr4 3200 cas 18 timings will do the job.
should cost about 120-130 if you go with a brand like corsair.

if you have a 5000 series cpu then go 3600 cas 18
in a 4x16 config for about 140-150.
