Master Boot Record - Encryption

Just wondering if it’s possible for a Mac partition of a drive formatted as MBR/Master Boot Record and use the Mac OS Extended (Journaled, Encrypted) type. I’ve tried and haven’t had much luck. Just wondering if it’s even possible.

I know GPT/GUID is a lot more friendly, but MBR doesn’t seem to accept it at all.

I believe OSX requires a GPT table in the first place, and most mac hardware requires a blessed HFS+ partition on that GPT device to boot successfully, so this is probably a non-starter.

No, you can install OS X on MBR. I was referring to a mass storage drive though, not an OS drive.
