so i'm trying to install .8.6 and when i hit start with free drivers/start with non-free drivers i get tons of errors that amount to not being able to mount on any volume (i don't know why it's trying to mount anywhere when i'm just starting)
i don't know how to take a screenshot of it to show the errors, and when i tried to run it in a virtual machine to replicate the errors it worked perfectly
this maybe more than a bit vague, but maybe someone with manjaro experience knows exactly what i'm trying to say and i don't have time at the moment to take pictures or go into greater detail
also if it's important it's being installed alongside win8, win8.1, and elementary
i'll post pictures later, .8.6 because it was the latest when i downloaded it a few weeks ago (i've been lazy), hash what?, direct download, on a usb with yumi multiboot
so: boot to usb> boot to manjaro iso> select "start manjaro"> watch these errors repeat for a couple minutes and it ends at this, if it's possible to save these logs i'll need to be instructed how to do it
this is where it ends at, it goes on like this for awhile, but most of it is this same thing repeated, if it would be helpful i could record the whole thing on video
You need to remake your USB stick (use the program recommended on the manjaro website, I don't know about windows programs myself, but they will have tested, and I think they will probably recommend Unetbootin).
The problem you're having is twofold:
- the fstab reference on the live distro on your USB stick doesn't match the medium;
- fstab doesn't have any mountpoints.
The two together mean that there was a corruption because the program you used to write it to the USB stick isn't up to that task.
Rewrite the USB stick (download 0.8.7 for it, 0.8.6 was a smaller iso with less packages, you'll get more software preinstalled when you take the 0.8.7, but you don't have to, because Manjaro is a rolling release, and it's not like you'll get older versions or something, the only difference is the selection of packages, but it's not like it's a big download anyway). Use a torrent client to download the iso, because torrent clients use automatic hashcheck (data integrity check), and if you don't, calculate the sha or md5 hash of the file you have downloaded and compare it with the hashes that are published on the manjaro website, the numbers have to correspond, if they do, there is no data corruption and you get the real deal.
