Making a Murderer Netflix documentary discussion

So for those that have Netflix and haven't seen this yet I highly advise that you do. I don't consider myself someone big on true crime shows but once I started this I couldn't turn it off. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5189670/

Discuss, rant, gather your pitchforks & torches!!

This Documentary is one of the most frustrating things I have ever watched, and I mean that in the best way possible.

There are resources online that point out things that this series left out, and I've read through all of them and my opinion still has not changed. I consider myself a hardcore skeptic when it comes to almost everything. I ALWAYS try to look at things from every angle I can, but even still, I can't help but feel that the Manitowoc County fucked this entire families life up for the sake of saving their own asses.

One decision from a corrupt justice system led to basically a lifetime of heartache and misery for Steven Avery's entire family. But the worst part is, I got pretty much exactly what I expected from watching this. I know not every cop is bad, but power corrupts, and there is a LOT of undeserved power in the justice system that we have today.

Did you read about the jury intimidation? http://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-news/news/making-a-murderer-filmmakers-jurors-feared-for-their-lives-w160794

I did, and this part right here...

"[The juror] told us that they were afraid that if they held out for a mistrial that it would be easy to identify which juror had done that and that they were fearful for their own safety,"

...speaks volumes if you ask me.

And here I thought I'd found a corner of the internet that wasn't talking obsessively about this, haha.

My girlfriend is on her second watch through, after reading all the extra stuff online. Though I admit I was generally appalled by the whole thing, it didn't draw me in nearly as much as it seems to have everyone else. I also have to say, as a non-american, there is a certain feeling of "isn't that just another day in small town america?" up here, which is really horrible I guess. No one I know seems particularly surprised by the events in the show though.

As an American (even worse... as a Texan) I'm not surprised about the fact that they got convicted, and thats the worst part... this kinda of stuff IS expected. But what is surprising is just the level of obvious corruption in this case. And we don't often get a chance to see cases like this all laid out for us, we usually just have to learn about it through the news media, which in this case you can see how even the media had a role in how things turned out.

I thought it was so appalling that they let colburn walk avery to the car after sentencing. That part made me want to vomit.

Thought I'd just post this here.
