Hello all. I tried to use Handbrake and only the 2nd part of a two part DVD was getting ripped. Learned I need to use MakeMKV first.
MakeMKV in auto is making the same mistake, so I’m using “Open DVD in manual mode”. The string syntax is pwning me.
This is what I’m working with:
I’ve tried: 1:1-7 2:1-7 and 1:1-7 2:2-7 and I get:
I then tried to keep it simple and just did 1:1-7, same issue.
When left to it’s own devices, MakeMKV can successfully rip the second chapter of the DVD so it can navigate, and extract, there seems to be an issue with my understanding of the string arguments.
I’ve never used it from command line. I just use the GUI and it rips fine. Unless this is from the GUI. Usually when I have issues with a disc not ripping the disk itself has a physical issue. Sometimes it’s as simple as just to many little people finger prints. Others it’s many deep scratches causing read failures. Best I can offer
One of the disks might have a scratch issue, but its been on more than one disk that it just detects one half of the two halves.
Did more reading than I thought I’ve ever do on MakeMKV, there was a string in settings to try and detect and tune out fake or false positives and another setting to be tweaked with, all to no avail. Think I’ll tap out on this one.
I have had issues with one or two discs. I have four different bluray drives. For me this is a godsend, because when it doesnt rip on one drive, it does another. Weird issues.
