Make America Great Again. Change Ourselves First

Today America and the world begins to possess the news of one of the greatest upsets in recent electoral history. Many are left feeling disheartened upset and some even hopeless. At the end of this. Long drag-out, divided and ugly presidential campaigns between a candidate that many thought to be evil and the other a candidate that was thought to be otherwise still pretty evil. Citizens of the world were left to imagine what the world would look like from this day forward and the impact the next four years would leave on the globe. For most people the Idea of either Secretary Clinton or Donald Trump at the helm of this great nation was a stomach turning thought.

Last night's upset victory of (now) President Elect Donald Trump highlights what is often the most pivotal and most Important issue to voters and yet also the most overlooked by the media and by voters themselves. It is an issue that is almost always talked about by parties carried by parties as a mantra or a theme but rarely held up as the Important issue along side of things like Abortion, Gun Rights, and the Economy. The things that people say when asked “What are the important issues to you as a voter?” This is the issue of Change.

I believe Fundamentally citizens of any affiliation recognize that despite having a system of government that is the envy of most of the rest of the world that there is room for improvement and innovation and that despite having to successfully adapt and overcome in our own lives all the time government is very slow to do so. It is important to remember that this is by design so that a rapidly evolving government machine would not gather momentum and steam role the governed. However we have reached one of the pivotal moments in American history where the people are ready for some of that Real Change in our government.

This election I for the fist time in my voting life voted for a third party candidate. I did this not only because I did not feel that either candidate adequately represented me and or my fellow citizens but because I felt the Democrat and Republican parties failed to produce a candidate that was worthy of representing any american regardless if they happen to agree with me politically. This election I voted for Change It was my hope that my vote and the votes of others would push a third party candidate not to the White House but above 5% of the popular vote thus bringing real change to the political landscape of America changing us from a two party system to a three party system and forcing all parties to pick better candidates in future political contests.

As we can see this morning this did not happen as Gary Johnson did not manage to get above 5% of the popular vote but..

MY MESSAGE TODAY IS STILL ONE OF HOPE.

With the election of Donald Trump a lot is required of us as Americans to make sure that he has as all new presidents have the opportunity to be a good president. Just as when president Obama was first elected (another man who did not get my vote) I had the very same thought the day after election day. “I hope he dose a good job” because in the end we all just want a better America. Then I had another thought.

That thought was this. America's people have grown so much over the course of the last two presidents. We have learned a lot about what our government is capable of doing and just how much we are not to trust them. We have been reminded that we select representatives to represent us but that it is up to us to make sure that they do we cant trust them to do that on there own. We have and maybe not for the first time learned that politics is a process not an event or a campaign. It requires our diligence for accountability the government wont and isn't capable of doing it itself.

It is very unlikely that you have ever had a president that you have agreed with totally and truly. With this presidency I believe that will be truer with more people than ever for most of us. The Donald has now proven to us definitively that he is capable of getting things done. That for many people is very fighting and should be. Not just because you disagree with his policy but even if you do. Government that can wield rapid change gathers momentum and if you agree with one policy you might not like the next.

President Trump will require our watchful vigilance we must take every action and move on policy as a reminder that the United States is a government by the people. That's us not just The president, the congress, or the court ALL OF US.

If we accept our civic responsibility to ensue that every action our collective elected takes is in the countries overall best interest of OUR country perhaps we will relearn that we all just want what is best for our country and that we are not as different as we have come to think. Perhaps we might find that even if we have different Ideas of how to reach that goal we are more united than we have been lead to believe. I think the negative number about presentation of Clinton and Trump in the lead up to all of this is a testament to that. If over the Next four or eight years we can relearn why you defend your neighbor even when you disagree because it is in defense of their rights and relearn what it means to all lift each other up so that we may all be lifted up then...

We will all have created the change this country has so desperately needed WE WILL HAVE CHANGED OURSELVES FIRST and once we have done that change will seep into the government and that is the best and perhaps the only way to change the ruling class for real and for the long term. I don't know that this type of change could happen with any other person in the Oval. With Clinton maybe, but if she had one many might be tempted to go back to sleep. I hope now that with a Trump win everyone is now awake. Lets stay that way so that under a Trump presidency we can make America great great again even if it isn't the way that President Elect Trump had intended.

It is time that we the people pick up our own mantra.

CHANGE OURSELVES FIRST

Stop asking what will our government do for me but, rather What can I do for our country?

Happy Day After Election Day everyone and God Bless America. (and hell why not everyone else too)

I'm still scared. Anyone can say what they want but we're going t have more infighting than reflection of foreign engagement.

So if DJT and the Republicans manage to get us out of or renegotiate NAFTA and all the other upside down trade deals that, yeah enables us to get relatively cheap PC parts and stuff from Asia but just gutted our industrial base among other sections of the economy, then it just might be worth it. If and its a BIG if, all the attention on illegal immigration get us a common sense immigration policy and helps all the SJWs and Ultra-Liberal (I'm a Liberal) idiots recognize that being anti-illegal immigration is NOT anti-immigrant or racist then MAYBE, just MAYBE it might be all worth it. IF having an intellectually bereft big mouth blow hard demagogue in the White House helps the country become a little less politically correct and more honest about the things that separate us and make us different then it just might be worth it. Maybe if they get the other NATO countries and JP/RSK to be actual partners and pay their fair share of the cost in both blood and treasure in maintaining the current world order then MAYBE just MAYBE all the butt-hurt, Keynesian mumbo-jumbo and religious BS we're all about to get rammed down our throats in the end will be worth it.

We all have fears and reservations concerns and hopes the one thing we can be certain of is that we are in this together

I don't think that's high on the agenda anywhere outside the Anglo-American military industrial complex.

Trump wants to provide unlimited access to shale gas mining because Russia has cheap gas. Frankly, after the Bushes, Clinton and Obama, the US has lost a lot of grip on the world economy because they have nothing left to offer but violence and coercion and have fallen down to the most low level of respect for UN and other international law fora, just because they have nothing else to offer. Since 2001, there has basically been a complete fire sale of the backbone of the American industry to foreign corporations, and more importantly than that... a fire sale of the entire national debt... whereas up until last century, most of the American debt was owed to American citizens and American corporations, after 2001, that changed completely, and not only did the national debt grow, it's also owed to foreign nationals and companies. That's why Trump is also hinting at not repaying US national debt any more. He doesn't want the situation to get out of hand and find the US is a similar situation as Greece... before it's too late he needs to structurally rebuild the US economy, but he will need money for that, and he won't be able to get that money from abroad any more because he wants to reorganize the national debt by cancelling foreign claims basically... so there is only one source left for him to find the money, and that's the ultra rich elite in the US... that means he'll have to make huge concessions to that elite, in terms of consumer rights, in terms of safety and health regulations, in terms of labour cost, in terms of tax benefits.
If he really does burn bridges with foreign creditors, that will also lead to a problematic situation on a completely different level: since the Brexit, the interest of continental Europe in NATO has completely changed, because Continental Europe has always counted on the NATO partners for one thing only: the nuclear shield. They have been paying insane amounts of "protection money" through the decades for this service from the Brits and the Americans. The problem is that Brexit has shown the continental European countries that the "we're allies right" thingy is a lie, that there is no real loyalty to expect from Anglo-American countries when push comes to shove. The other thing is that France, also a considerable nuclear power, always had a very problematic relationship with Germany and a good one with the UK. That has now changed enormously, as France and Germany are really good friends and the UK has become the not-quite-trusted-outsider. And then there is the relationship with Russia, also quite a formidable nuclear power, and through Russia and Germany with India, also quite a formidable nuclear power. It might just be that continental Europe isn't quite buying the sales pitch for NATO any more, that the US and UK have betrayed the "world order" one too many times. It might just be that continental Europe prefers to put the extra money the "allies" will claim as protection money, into it's own Europe-wide nuclear shield, or into nuclear shield services from other parties, because both of these options are starting to look quite a bit more economical and trustworthy.

So there might a huge change of the balance of power at hand.

But:

Average people can't change politics, nobody on this forum has any direct influence or responsibility towards global politics. Therefore, it's up to those whom the shoe fits to settle their differences and problems. Average people should be vigilant that they do not become the cannon fodder or cheap labour slaves of those at the top. Average people should not communicate with each other with global politics in mind, with a prejudicial attitude towards others. Average people should not expect wrongdoing from those they don't know, and should maybe put a little less trust in those that have a record of wrongdoing, but are too high up the ladder for anyone to punish them. Average people should make sure that they do not exclude, because it only leads to being excluded yourself, that is common sense.

And guess what... average people can do all of that now, because of the Internet, because of open source software, because of ingenuity and knowledge, because of intelligence and sharing knowledge, and most importantly, because there are no real linguistic borders any more, no real cultural borders any more, it's easier than ever to look beyond those borders, to communicate no matter what, to cooperate no matter what. And the day on which this really happens will come. There will be a day on which the new generations will automatically cooperate on a global level, without the need for globalism, on which they will be polite without need for politics. There is only one thing that is important for the average person... and that is to make sure that nobody takes away knowledge and education. That has been the case for as long as civilizations exist. The first thing any political movement or religious movement wants to do, is take away the free education and the knowledge of people.

Politicians come and go, knowledge stays, politicians claim that they provide security, people with knowledge know that only knowledge provides that, and that politicians only want to take it away. The huge prerogative of the modern average person, is that with the Internet and other technologies, knowledge can be transferred and applied better and faster and wider than ever before. There will cone a time when the people just take over from the politicians, when they don't need expensive hired help any more to communicate with people that live somewhere else.

That will be the moment where silly talk about "blood and treasure" doesn't interest anyone any more. That is the real moment the dark ages will end.

@Bee_Syndicate @Zoltan Well said.
Trump is now a catalyst. Whether you like him or not, people have been awoken to the real state of politics. This will inspire more people to vote in the future, and this will contribute to more changes in the way we view our ruling elect.

At least Trump recognizes the needs of the US population to a certain extent... it's more important to have clean cities and good roads than fly all over the world throwing bombs... now let's hope something good comes out of that, new jobs for Detroit and other places that have fallen apart because of the steady course of American politics since Ronald Reagan.

Outside of the US, I hope people will be able to look past Trump and will be able to focus on what really matters in terms of cooperating with the US.

I also silently hope - as do many others - that German car manufacturers will start making cars for Europeans again, instead of for Americans, and if Trump blows up trade agreements, who knows, that may just happen lol...
