Main Rig Upgrade For 2016

So I have my $1000 desktop which I use for gaming and video editing and
I want to upgrade it to handle all of the new games at max settings at
60fps at 1080p and also be able to edit videos better I don't have a
budget yet but any upgrades that would really help the computer be
better I will save up for the part to upgrade it later this summer
season.

So this is your current setup, right?

Yes and I wanted some help knowing what to upgrade on it

Well this is a bit of a difficult one.
Your core i5 is basicly good enough for gaming atm.
But if you like to do allot of video editing and rendering you could eventualy just grab a 4790K.
But maybe it might be more ideal if you realy plan to do allot of video editing and rendering to jump X99.

Maybe a 6800K or 5820K + a decent X99 board.

First the cheap tricks:
You have different RAM sticks in there. Are those running in dual channel? If not fix that!
And you need ssd storage. At least for your main drive, I would say a second one for scratch.
Also, kick your multiplier up. You have a K, duh. ;)

The ram is running dual channel I just added the 2 Avexir sticks yesterday and checked to see if they are running dual channel and yes I do need a SSD I have to save up the money for one I think a cheap 120gb one would do the trick and the K series processor yes I can overclock it but I need to have the time to sit down and do it and test it which I havn't had the chance to do and also I'm very very inexperience with overclocking so I'm kinda afraid to touch the voltages

Hmm, if an ssd is a serious financial thing for you, it might get difficult to recommend you the graphics and fps that you want. I guess the upcoming RX 480 is the the card you should keep an eye on.

SSD: Wendell had a cheap mushkin in a video review some time ago. That or the crucial are probably best value.

I'll have the money soon for it I just really have to wait for my paycheck to come then I'll be able to afford a 120gb one and I do like the Cucial SSDs because they match the blue color theme of my build

Go for the 240! Price is 30% more for double the capacity.

I will warn you

if you use a 120GB as a boot drive, you will find yourself running out of space if you install too much on it (duh)

and for video editing fast storage is a plus, so unless you want to constantly swap footage between HDD and SSD I would suggest a ~250GBish size

Ok then ps I only have room for 1 2.5 inch hard drive because my case is overflowing with 4 harddrives 3 of which filling up the HDD bays and one sitting in a hotswap bay in the 5.25 inch slot under my blueray drive and the case only has 1 spot dedicated for a 2.5 inch drive sitting above the 3 3.5 inch drive bays

SSD's dont really care where you put them lol

no moving parts=cram them anywhere

I used to have three stuffed behind my motherboard tray before I got a new case

Get a dedicated professional SSD-mounting system!

...... a.k.a. velcro. :ugly:
