Made in USA PC

See this is a nice thing about cars.

Since they are so large and difficult to export/import many companies sell within their own continents or set up factories in that continent. The Japanese for instance have smothered Europe with their factories to get past import restrictions and make their cars more affordable.

Just an off-topic ramble. Those production lines that America invented were meant for cars, and are still used for cars.

I've been to China. I have toured factories. Your sentiments are not entirely spot on. The Chinese that we met took great pride in their work. However, many (mostly American) vendors demand cheaper products at cheaper prices. So they are forced to cut corners. A small percentage operate the way you imagine that they all operate. Apple is one of the largest forces in this game. An American company, demanding that Foxcon violate the human rights of their workers. Most of the people we spoke to hate Apple.

Anyway, your goals are impossible. You can find something that has a few parts made in the USA and it can be assembled in the USA, but some parts are going to be made in China. You could perhaps go all Taiwanese. We simply do not make much in the USA. You can get a CaseLabs case and some Mushkin ram, but not much else.

I think it might be a good time to educate yourself. You can research the individual companies to find out how their factories are. The stereotypes are pretty gross.

How about you make a seperate thread on this. There are people who will gladly get you in the right direction.

we are in a era of great globalization, the quality of products being synonymous with where there are produced is not longer valid for many products.

He has already made two.

@burninghorns you know you can bump your old thread with a comment?

I did lols yesterday nobody responded BibleThump im not trying to hate on the sense of nobility to ending corporate greed by not suppoting Child labor and Polution in china but i need help making a new pc and u can never know where the parts come from.

According to Wall Street, China is becoming more of a service economy, and the United States is making a comeback in manufacturing. So, perhaps, in a few years, a Made in USA computer will be possible.

Not quite true. For example, Unicomp keyboards (model m) are very high quality, Made in USA, and still competitive with Asian products. Their standard Model M keyboard is $80, while a cherry mx keyboard from China, such as the K70 from Corsair, is $170. Unicomp still makes a very well built keyboard at less than half of the cost of the Corsair K70. And I assure you, Corsair has disposable profits from their keyboards.

american made: Guns, compound bows some cars. 1987 IBM 286 pc, made in Taiwan. The IBM 360 was made in the USA and the early IBM and Compaq 8088's were assembled here at least:)
