Macbooks and Midnight Black: Fingerprints/Scratches?

I think I am going to get myself a new Macbook. I tend to buy the darkest/blackest version of devices because that is more my style, but as a longtime Lenovo Thinkpad user, I am kind of tired of having my brand new devices look like they’re 10 years old because of how they show fingerprints.

How much does the Macbook’s Midnight Black color show fingerprints? How durable is the finish in terms of scratches?

I’m going to get the new M4 Macbook Pro, if that makes a difference.

I have a midnight MacBook Air that I bought last year. It gets pretty smudgy but only if you view it off-axis. I’m not gentle with it but I’ve never seen any scratches on the lid.
