This does seem like a great way to develop for apple computers for less of an upfront cost, I do have a question though. Can you visualize a development environment for apple without apple hardware? because if so seems like a better alternative than another machine that is singular in its purpose. This might be a dumb question and if so I am sorry.

These machines are stupidly over engineered for their pedestrian level performance from 2013. Don’t get me wrong, it looks cool for a chrome trashcan, but what do these things really offer that you can’t get from a cheaper industrial level dumpster PC?

Only 8 min long? Your first Mac Rehab video is half an hour long and has lot more info.

ebay has the 2680v2 for around $200 and up. And the 2670v2 seems to start around the $170 range and goes up.

The old one was a tower, you could actually do stuff with it. Here you can switch CPU and RAM, that is basically it.

I kinda disagree on the whole X79 is ancient opinion once you get into overclocking. Old Sandy Bridge unlocked Xeons can hit 4.6Ghz without many problems if you know what you’re doing and don’t overload the system agent voltage.

Xeons of the E5-2xxx variety are locked multiplier parts and thus you have to use the (riskier to your PCI-E bus) BCLK overclocking. BCLK overclocking yields way less benefit compared to an unlocked multiplier on E5-1xxx CPUs. You can even OC the E5-1680 V2, which is a 8 core part.
