I've heard about these new (or newer at least) m.2 drives that are actually quite a bit faster (at least according to the specs) than my regular sata III SSD.
Anyway, can someone please help me understand if upgrading to an m.2 drive is worth the cash I'll need to spend on it, as reliable as my regular SSD, and will further reduce load screen time. Thanks.
If you want something faster, it need to be a pce-i m.2 drive, like the Samsung 950 pro. But I'm sceptical that your ssd is really the real problem. Even with a regular ssd most of the time load times are fast, so buying an pcie ssd would not be worth it. I thing the slow load time might be something else?
What is your ssd that you're using? Which motherboard do you have? What is the ram you're using? What is the CPU? Are their any useless and clunky software running at the same time on your pc?
Oh no, let me be clear, I LOVE my ssd. I have an Samsung 850 Evo. It's just that when I went from hdd to ssd the first time and watched my just cause 2 load times drop like by a freaking amazing amount, I was ecstatic. I'm just wondering if I will have similar results going to m.2 pcie from my 2.5" Sata 3 Ssd. Is it worth it?
It will really depend on the use case scenario. If you are talking about games, then yes it will be faster - but I doubt that it will be as noticable as when you went from a mechanical hdd to a ssd. Unless you need more storage or have the money to burn, then I wouldnt bother. If this is work related then it will depend on what you are doing.
