I have this HP SFF PC that has a Q6600 incoming and would like a graphics card to keep it company, PSU is 240w so I should have gone for a Q8200 but oh well.
I'd rip out the optical drive and use only USB connected to a powered hub to offload a tiny bit from the 240w PSU or I could rig up a dangerous supplementary PSU but I wont try to upgrade the internal one.
This unit would be for media streaming or something probably but I want to push it as far as I can.
Does anyone have a clue of my limited options?
SFF half height PCI-e slot power is lower than 75w standard?
If you want cheaper there also an R7 250 (Basically HD 7750) LINK
I have been planning a SFF build inside of an Antec ISK 300-150, which basically has room for around 30mm for a graphics card, which 20mm takes up the slot alone.
From a little bit of reading because of your power supply it is possible that any GPU you put could rail so I'd hook up a kill-a-watt and see how much your system is drawing before pulling the trigger on a card. Also be mindful of the age of the computer the power supply's output will most likely be around 200-220w due to the age of the capacitors
It really does my head in searching for crap graphics cards, Thanks for the suggestions ,I might just put any old thing with HDMI in there to start with.
edit: I've lowered my requirements to wanting a card that will hardware decode steam home streaming which a GTX720 will do BUT I don't want to settle for that, I must stop searching before mental sets in.
I want a cheap card not as good as a 7750 that takes 45w max and does the HW decode, Must be NV then I guess.gah!!
