Low power, high performance PC

Hi,
First, thanks for your help.

I want to set up a PC that is on 24/7 and I want to use Rust Desk to remotely connect to it from my iPad or as a possibility to download stuff to it faster as my network connection is a lot faster where it will be placed. As it will be always running I want it to be using not to much power (Wattage) but still would like to have the best hardware possible. So my limiting factor is the power and my budget.

I would like to stay below a total of 65W of power. I guess most or even all Desktops don’t work.

65W is what most Laptops use and I would also be willing to remove batteries

So
My request

  • <65W
  • <$400
  • run Windows 11

What is the best I can get?

Getting a little dirty is ok. So adding RAM or an SSD is totally doable.

Buying used is the way to go

I was mostly looking at mini PCs from HP and Dell but I am not fixed in that regard.

Replayability is not a factor, if it crashes i’ll just reboot it again, no harm done.

Lenovo X70 tiny could also work.

The idea of a mini-pc is not bad for your use. For example an ASRock Deskmini x300 with an Athlon 3000G via Newegg would be $250, add Storage and RAM to taste, easily below budget.

Another idea: Odroid H4 Plus and ITX-kit is $155, which also has the option to hook up 4 SATA-drives and turn this thing into a NAS.
I have an H3 serving in that role, and plan to do this with the H4 later this year.
